Aerobic Exercise Is Actually a Waste of Time Says Washington, DC Personal Trainer
Because I am a personal trainer in Washington, DC people are always asking me “how much should I be jogging to get rid of this [holding belly or butt] fat?” They are always shocked by my answer of “none, jogging and aerobic exercise in general is actually a waste of time. You can get better results in less time without aerobics.”
The USDA and fitness “experts” tell people to do an hour or more of aerobic exercise per day to lose weight. Uh, what about having a life? Do you have an extra 7-10hrs/week to blow on jogging? In addition, this advice is NOT actually based on any kind of proof that it works. In fact, the research that we have says that it does NOT! A woman who does 6hrs per WEEK will drop LESS than 4lbs in a YEAR. A man will barely beat 6.
Research shows that you can get 450% better results in 1/2 (or less) the time with something called “interval training.” Interval training is where you alternate bouts of extremely intense activity (fast running for example) with low intensity activity (walking for example). It seems that the most important effect of interval training is that it makes your body burn off its own fat for 24hrs or more AFTER your workout.
Intensity training has yet another benefit over aerobic exercise. When you do aerobics your body slowly adjusts. This means that every time you workout your body learns the workout and will start to have to work less to do the same workout over time. With intensity training your body is kept guessing. You are always changing up the intensity and your body can not learn like it does with aerobic exercise.
Interval training is far superior to aerobic exercise. You can get fat better results in less time, and without being bored silly on the treadmill or elliptical machine. it will allow you to drop more fat and to get out of the gym faster.
My Washington, DC personal training clients drop MORE fat in LESS time with interval training. Plus it is more fun and quicker. Don’t waste another hour slaving away on the treadmill. Get in, get out and get more time for having a life.
Earlier it was mentioned that aerobic exercise can actually hurt your efforts to lose weight. The reason that is true is that when you start your exercise program and see that it is going to take you 60 to 90 minutes to workout everyday your motivation can drop and you can want to give up before you even start. That much exercising can seem like too much handle and it is. If you were told you could do interval training for half that time and burn more calories, then chances are you would be more likely to stick with it.
Dont let the myth about aerobics ruin your chances at losing weight. Learn more about interval training and start using it in your exercise program instead of aerobics. You will love the results that you get.
